Your hosts are Lis Pedersen, Chris Bennett and Tia. Lis and Chris “discovered” New Zealand in the early 1980’s and love their adopted country with a passion. Lis carries a Danish passport and grew up all over the world. Chris is Canadian by birth – and has spent his career working in many developing countries. Our shared joy is the outdoors – which is why we love living in the Nelson region.
Lis is originally a cardiac rehabilitation nurse and continues her interest in healthy lifestyle choices. Her hobbies include silk painting, cooking and baking, growing food organically and spending time in the outdoors while hiking, cycling, kayaking and gardening.
Chris is a highway engineer with the World Bank building transport infrastructure in developing countries. In his spare time he rides his bike and races triathlons. He has completed an Ironman triathlon on every continent then switched to endurance cycling. He’s done the 4,418 km Tour Divide mountain bike race from Canada to Mexico in 2013, 3,600 km London to Istanbul in 2014 and 7,000 km Istanbul-Brussels-Istanbul in 2015. Lesser challenges are now on the horizon. Chris is also the geek in the family.
Tia is our much adored fluffy. She’s been with us through thick and thin for the past 20 (!) years and thankfully is showing no signs of slowing down. Provided you are a tummy scratcher she will be a very attentive host.
